Saving Mother Lanka’s Daughters

Prostitution is on the rise at a rampant pace among Mother Lanka’s daughters.  The entry points to prostitution are the thousands of massage parlors that have sprung up everywhere under the guise of ‘Spas’ in numerous forms and colors. Today, the Hit Ad has many more pages with advertisements of these so called Spas than other businesses. The root cause for prostitution is poverty, my friends. The girls who become prey to this are the ones who seek greener pastures and come from distant villages.

Action points

• Let’s start by putting pen to paper and writing about this like never before to create an unprecedented awareness with the view of getting the attention of the relevant authorities, such as the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, the Women’s Bureau etc;

• Setting up half way houses or rescue centers for those Daughters whom we rescue, should be the next priority.

• Setting these young ladies in alternative occupations which will be the next challenge we should be looking at.

• We invite those who have a passion in this area to join hands with us and work towards freeing Mother Lanka’s daughters.
