Southern Solidarity at work

S. Selvarasa owns the only grocery shop which was wiped out after COVID-19 lockdowns and retrictions, in our little village in Impacholei, Vaddukaddai South, Jaffna,

We extended him livilihood support to recommence the grocery shop, just before the 3rd lockdown.

We thank our supportive donors who enable us to do what we do.

Southern Solidarity makes dreams come true!

A dream came true for Abishayani when she received her much desired brand new laptop, with which she is able to pursue her studies to qualify in Software Engineering.

We thank the wonderful Sri Lankan donors who came forward to support this worthy cause, in response to our appeal.

We thank the Divisional Secretary of Vallikamam West Mrs Premini Ponnambalam and for Nalin Information Technologies (Pvt) Ltd for facilitating the handover on our behalf.

Southern Solidarity at work!

Thanks to the generous donation from our Southern brethren we were able to donate 40 dry ration packs (worth Rs 5,000/= each) to Northern brethren in our village of Impacholei in Vaddukoddai South, Jaffna.

With the Rs 5,000/= payment by the Government also coming in this week, we believe that these people in the village will be able to manage until the lockdown is lifted.

We wish to thank the Divisional Secretary Chankanai Ms.Premini and the Grama Niladhari Mr Sivakumar for their support and our own team member Mr Niranjan Arulraj (in the photographs below) for coordinating the distribution.

Renovations to Nageswary's roof (Pictured below)

Roofing material in the kitchen and toilet were replaced. 02 doors and 01 set of windows were installed and renovations to the house were completed during this month.

Roofing material replaced. As such, the house does not leak any more.

The floors for 02 rooms of the house were laid.

Soil filling and construction of three homes for Selvarasa, Nagamma and Wijayalakshmi

This project commenced at the end of September and was completed under one month!

The three completed houses were handed over by the Divisional Secretary of Vallikamam West in mid October 2020, before the rainy season began.

Training program for young men and women conducted by Ms. Samitha Ethildoraarachchi.

Another bicycle distributed to a student to ease her daily 3km journey to school.

Baby Darice, arrived in July. The Love Jaffna team were privileged to help finance the confinement.

Distribution of relief supplies to 22 female headed households and widows from the Chunnakam area during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
